Good News Day

Kimberley Spinney at ecata romance says Amanda's Young Men is '...an amazing feast for the senses.' and '...a wickedly decadent novel.' and, oooh we like this, 'Madeline Moore’s story is a must own, must buy story of lust, passion and finding one’s self in the world.'

Four stars!

A must, must own!

Wild Card has been picked up by the Germans, so I have my first ever royalties cheque. Yahoo!

My staples come out today. So I'll feel a lot more like a writer and a lot less like a magzine. Oh boy!

I'm chuffed and I'm cheery and I'm chock full o' love.

Launch Day!

Yes, today's the day Amanda's Young Menis available in the USA and Canada!

As you can see, my ancestor, Mary Lin Moore, was adept at ship launching. Me - I'm attempting to be adept at book launching! Oh what the heck, let's have a look at that book right now!

Unfortunately, as I was abducted by aliens for a solid week and just deposited back on earth on Friday, I'm not up to a full-fledged party. No champers for me, not until the staples (and can you believe aliens staple their victims back together when they're finished with them, like so many pieces of paper?!) are removed.

I failed to follow the advice that accompanied a photo of the ship that picked me up:

'If you see a UFO, act normal.'

If only I'd known.

More about my adventures in outer space later. Today, let's celebrate as best we can. Hurray for Amanda's Young Men.

Follow the links to place an order on Amazon:

You can order it in the US

and in Canada

and in the UK, where it's been available for awhile.

I'll be back to blogging and promoting and making a fuss about things, soon. For now, it's back to bed with a grin on my face. It's good to be a Black Lace author and damn, it's good to be home.

Platinum Crowns and Pink Powdery Candies

Yesterday was the gala crown insertion. The crown is made of porcelain and platinum and it goes in my mouth, dahlings, not on my head nor inserted into any other opening. No vagina dente for me! And, though it isn't actual jewellery, it cost as much as a crown jewel, I bet.

Last night I celebrated in true Madeline Moore fashion, by eating hard candies. My favourite hard candy is called a wintergreen mint. It is not green, it's pink. I don't know why it's called 'wintergreen' but I do love the fact that it's a pink candy with 'green' in its name.

Naturally, by my fifth hard candy it occurred to me I was probably destroying my new crown, and today, in true Mad Moore fashion, I'm fussing over the new crown, convinced I've cracked it. I don't have one of those little angled mirrors dentists have, so I had to fit a rather large hand mirror in my mouth and then before I could get a good look at the (upper, right, back) tooth the mirror fogged up.

Felix, of course, was working away at his computer, but he obligingly looked into my mouth and pronounced the new crown 'fine'.

I know it's fine. I always do this. I question the sanity in eating hard candy the day of a crown insertion, but what's done is done. The crown can take it...

Soon I'll phone my sister. She's been through a few of these dental weirdnesses with me. She'll say 'Shut up' and I'll be fine.

But I think I'll have pasta for supper, just to be safe.

xoxo the Maniacal Madeline Moore

Readin', Writin', and Rockin'

I'm feeling better...ho ho ho.

Felix and I have been invited to read at an erotica reading event in May. Yes, right here in Canada. Who'da thunk it?

I've never read my stuff aloud before. I imagine I'll blush so I'll just have to live with it, as long as I don't giggle.

Oh and we get in Free to the Playroom. Oo la la. Do you think they play cards in the playroom?

Madeline's ready to play...

Age is a Helpless Hurt

Willie Mayes said, 'Age is a helpless hurt,' and some days I know just what he means.

I'm in my early fifties so I'm not even, by my calculations, in the third act of my life. Sometimes I imagine the best is yet to come. Other times I have to admit, the best, at least my physical best, is in the past.

What has ol' Maddy Moore singing the blues? Wrist pain. My wrists hurt and I'm trying to write, here! Grumble...

Also, I'm a bit weary of the baby boomers (and I believe we're in the process of rebranding ourselves as 'zoomers') insisting that fifty is the new thirty. I've been thirty. I've been fifty. Fifty is not the new thirty.

One thing maturity has done for me is make me leery of jumping on bandwagons. I come from the generation that said 'Never trust anyone over thirty.' Well, we're over thirty now, folks. Deal with it.

It bugs me that people with $$ will not only be more secure than I will be in my old age, but better looking! I don't want a face lift or botox, but I wouldn't say no to a little human growth hormone...or smart lipo...although...

I've anticipated being a cranky, pink or blue rinsed ol' lady for decades. I promised myself a little leeway in the 'dress and deportment' areas of my life. I don't want to be a 'zoomer.'

I just want my wrists to stop aching.
