CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Announcing the formation of a new Canadian literary magazine!

STEPHEN HARPER: a journal of the literary arts

Dedicated to the publication of Canadian literary talent, STEPHEN
HARPER is looking for said talent to bombard our inbox with your best
writing. We are looking for submissions from across Canada in both
official languages.

Submissions should be made via email to
stephen.harper.literary.concern@gmail.com. Submissions should remain
under 1 page as budget constraints are also size restraints. Deadline
is as soon as possible! We will start reading as soon as submissions
start rolling in!

We look forward to reading your submissions!

STEPHEN HARPER Managing Editors

About STEPHEN HARPER:

STEPHEN HARPER was started as the first magazine under new funding
guidelines made by the Canadian Periodical Fund. We believe that the
best response to these new guidelines is to try to produce a literary
journal streamlined enough to meet the new realities of today's
publishing industry. STEPHEN HARPER has an official subscription base
of 413 each MP and senator in the Canadian government is a
subscriber, including our namesake! As well, STEPHEN HARPER will be
starting a list of unsubscribers (the SH! list) of people not quite
lucky enough to be members of Canada's own government, but who still
wish to receive the light of STEPHEN HARPER into their heart.

(Perhaps I should add that the Government of Canada has decided to limit funding to literary journals without large subscribers...thus effectively dealing a death blow to the very few such journals still extant in the Great White North.)

Massage

Ah yes, today's the day. I'm leaving shortly, very shortly, for a one hour massage from Christine. I sought out the toughest masseuse in town. I like it hard, baby.
Deep tissue.

My best massage ever was in Guatalahara,at the fabulous spa called 'Rio Caliente'.
His name was Jorge.
I was ovulating.

He was so damn handsome and so incredibly talented with his hands that I wanted...I wanted more...but if he actually gave me more that would mean he gave everyone more...which would make him a Mexican man-whore. But dear God I wanted more.

When it was over he asked, 'Are you alright?' and I actually said, 'I will be in about five minutes.'

Sigh...

There was only one woman at Rio Caliente that Jorge touched intimately. He massaged her breasts. She asked the rest of us if he did that for us, to which we sadly chorused, 'Noooo.'

Turns out she'd had breast cancer, but hadn't told anyone, least of all him.

Oh Jorge.

But never mind! I'm off to get a proper pummeling from Christine. Yay!

Do you have a massage story you'd like to share?

My Big Fear

I'm afraid of going to the dentist. I'm going to the dentist tomorrow, no, today, because it's one a.m. and I can't get to sleep because I'm going to the dentist.

Even though I go to 'Dentistry...Asleep' where every patient there is afraid of going to the dentist, and we get put to sleep for our dental work, and no one makes fun of us for being afraid - I'm still afraid.

I don't get to eat for six hours before the dental work and I don't get to drink water for four hours before, because my dentist will be knocking me out before he preps two, not one but two, teeth for crowns.

He isn't the Nazi from Marathon Man. He isn't the crazed dentist from 'Little Shop of Horrors.'

OR IS HE????

Man Candy Monday

OooOOOooo. Looks like he's got something interesting down there. And if he finds it interesting, I bet we Man Candy Monday types would, too.

I don't know who this fine fellow is, but I know this - I'd love to play 'you show me yours and I'll show you mine' with him. Or is it 'you show you yours'...I'd play that, too.
